The NCF for the Foundational Stage (NCFFS) is developed based on the vision of the NEP 2020. The Foundational Stage refers to children in the age group of 3 to 8 years, across the entire range of diverse institutions in India.

Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) refers to basic skills in reading, writing, and mathematics. It is the ability to read and understand a basic text, write and perform simple mathematical operations.

The aim of FLN is to ensure that children learn in a joyful manner through play, stories, rhymes, activities, local art, craft, and music and develop strong foundations for lifelong learning.
